Whether it's the first day of a new school, a new term, university (or even a new job!) getting kitted out with all the essentials for the year ahead can be a very exciting task! From finding a pen that's just right, to getting more specialised items for studying favourite subjects, having all the tools you need is a great way to feel organised and set the year off on the right note.
We've put together some essentials for all ages to help avoid that last-minute rush when September starts!
Uniform
Most schools and colleges have quite set rules on uniforms, including PE kits and footwear. As of 1st September, schools can only enforce that pupils require a maximum of 3 branded items (4 for schools where ties are required) under the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026. A school uniform grant may also be available to some pupils - you would need to check with your local council for the exact eligibility requirements; however, if you qualify for free school meals, it is worth a look!

Stationery and Supplies
