Wimbledon 2026 is now underway, and with the sunny days ahead, many people are feeling inspired to pick up a racket and give it a go! Lots of local parks have tennis courts that are free to use, so it can be a low-cost, fun way to get some fresh air and try a sport with friends and family.
We've pulled together some great finds to help you on your way to Centre Court.
If you're new to tennis, the first thing you need is a racket, which can be a potentially expensive purchase if you're not sure if you'll be a tennis natural or not. This can be even more expensive if your main opponent also needs kitting out. We've found this great set of 2 tennis rackets and balls*, which also comes with spare grips and a carry bag. This set is a real bargain, and a great way to start playing - you can always upgrade down the line!
If you're of a competitive nature, you might want to get some extra practice in. This Tennis Rebound Trainer* is great for getting some practice shots in (also good for padel fans!). Simply fill the base with water, and the elasticated ball means you can turn an outdoor space into your own training facility.
You can start tennis without buying expensive clothing - as long as you're comfortable and can move, you don't need any fancy outfits, just pop some trainers on! One thing that can really help, however, is a good pair of socks. This might seem a bit random, but you'll be moving about a lot and having to change direction quite quickly, which can really impact your feet.
